Project description

The situation on the energy market leads to financial burdens for end customers, results in energy poverty as well as the exclusion of a part of the population from the energy transition. The project sozialEG develops and tests operating models for socially fair energy communities.

The goals of the project are:

  • Improve understanding of the realities of life for people experiencing energy poverty.
  • Develop at least 3 operating models for renewable energy communities.
  • Discussion of the legal, economic and technical framework for the implementation of these operating models.
  • Adaptation of the billing system of EZN to new tariff concepts.
  • Implementation or testing of two operating models - one of them with the diocese of St. Pölten.
  • Development of a guideline for the initiation and support of socially fair energy communities.
  • Recommendations for policy makers
