Project description

In order to meet the climate targets and the challenges of the future energy system, the European Commission is promoting the creation of so-called Renewable Energy Communities (REC). REC enable decentralized electricity producers (e.g. a photovoltaic system) to use the local public electricity grid to exchange electricity directly to other consumers within a community.

In the project, business models for a renewable energy community in Steyr are developed and demonstrated. The involvement of the stakeholders in every phase of the project plays an essential role, since only taking their needs and requirements into account allows the development of future-proof models.

The aim of LEC-Steyr is to develop a suitable business model (or several business models) for a Renewable Energy Community for the joint use of renewable energy, which generates economic benefits for all community members.
