Project presentation at energytalk (16.01.2019)

Description of the project

The focus of the considerations is an area next to the Frohnleitner train station, where MM-Forsttechnik GmbH, the MM-Forestry Directorate and a branch of Lagerhaus were located at the beginning of the project. A new SPAR supermarket was built in the summer of 2019, the new Lagerhaus branch will follow in 2020/21.The aim of HEAT Channel was the planning and implementation of an innovative heat supply system that uses purified process water from Mayr-Melnhof Karton Gesellschaft mbH as a heat source.

Technical concepts were worked out, each of which was checked for economic efficiency. After a few adjustments, both in terms of the use of technology and the customer structure, a scenario could be developed that could be economically represented. During the implementation work, however, it was found that some framework conditions had changed compared to those at the start of the project. As a result, there was no positive investment decision regarding a demonstration plant.

If there is an increased settlement of low-temperature heat consumers in the future, a new consideration of the economic efficiency of the system is recommended.
