Project description

The legislation aims at energy communities contributing to the local use of locally generated, renewable energy to keep a necessary grid expansion low as well as to increase the energy independence of regions. To make full use of the potential, all aspects of an energy system must be included - in terms of electricity, heat, renewable gases and the use of storage and flexibilities ("4 dimensions"). Currently implemented energy communities are mostly limited to the distribution of electricity generated by PV systems.

  • The project EEG 4 all Dimensions deals with multidimensional energy communities and answers the following questions:
  • How must a tariff system be designed to provide incentives for actors in all 4 dimensions?
  • What opportunities or barriers exist in the implementation of a multidimensional energy community regarding the regulatory framework?
  • What are the benefits of multidimensional energy communities for energy sectors other than electricity?
  • Can multidimensional energy communities contribute to the increase of supply security up to blackout prevention?
